The ADO celebrated its 50th anniversary and honoured two distinguished Belgian activists

Brussels - ADO — The ADO Belgian Section has organised an evening of celebration on the 5th of May 2007 in Louvain-la-Neuve City. Among the guests and the attendants were several political parties and associations, many Belgian academic dignitaries and NGO activists. In addition to Assyrian institutions and associations present, a wide Assyrian audience from different regions of Belgium the Netherlands and Germany, had also attended.


Brussels - ADO — The ADO Belgian Section has organised an evening of celebration on the 5th of May 2007 in Louvain-la-Neuve City. Among the guests and the attendants were several political parties and associations, many Belgian academic dignitaries and NGO activists. In addition to Assyrian institutions and associations present, a wide Assyrian audience from different regions of Belgium the Netherlands and Germany, had also attended.

Following the opening of ceremony with a patriotic song performed by renowned stars Abelahad Lahdo and Nagham Adwar Moussa, Mr. Sabri ALKAN (Chairman for the European Branch of the ADO) delivered a speech about the activities undertaken by the organisation during the last fifty years and the pioneering role it played in spreading national awareness amongst our Nation.

Mr. Alkan highlighted the positions of the Organisation in the recent developments taking place in Syria, Iraq and Turkey, and concluded by appealing to the youth to take a greater role in the political action during this difficult and delicate phase in pursuit of our legitimate rights.

Singer Nagham ADWAR MOUSSA performed an emotionally expressful song accompanied by Elias MOUSSAKE on the lute.

Mr. Abdulahad ASTEPHO, head for the political department of the ADO - European Brach, accompanied by Mr. Melkan ISHAK, then offered the Jubilee Golden Commemorative Plaque on behalf of the Assyrian Democratic Organization to Mr. Willy FOUTRE, Director of the Human Rights Without Borders International Organization, and to Mr.
August Thiry writer and journalist.

The offering of the award to these two distinguished activists was a symbol of gratitude and recognition for past and current efforts supporting the Assyrian cause within the Belgian and European active spheres.

The concert lasted until the early-morning hours.
